2007
FMLA AGM a Great Success More than 100 people attended the 2007 Annual General Meeting [AGM] of the Four Mile Lake Association [FMLA] on Sunday June, 24 at the Legion Hall in Coboconk. Guest speakers included the Mayor of the City of Kawartha Lakes[CoKL] Ric McGee and Ward 3 Councillor Dave Hodgson. In his President's remarks, Brian Causton emphasized that the role of the FMLA is to provide a means to co ordinate the efforts of property owners on the lake and to present a unified voice on matters of concern. This was most evident this past year, with the preparation of the Association's submission of a Four Mile Lake Plan for inclusion within the new CoKL Official Plan. The OP will set the agenda and parameters for all development within CoKL in the coming years and the FMLA was the only lake association to make a submission in this regard. Keynote speaker was Randy French, BES MCIP RPP [French Planning Services Inc., RR #2, 1016 Holiday Park Drive, Bracebridge, Ontario] Mayor McGee said that municipalities like CoKL have shouldered the brunt of downloading costs by the province and are finding all their services stressed beyond the limit. He told the meeting that a new radio information ad campaign was being aired to make people aware of the dire situation downloading costs have caused. |
At the 2007 AGM. Mayor Ric McGee spoke of the need to curtail provincial downloading.
