If you're getting more email notifications than desired, then you may just have your Notifications set to be more frequent than you desire. It's easy to change them.
You can change your Notifications by
1) going to <User CP> <Posts> <View My Notifications>
2) then in your List of Board Notifications, just change from "All New Posts" to "New Topics Only" OR "Remove"
