Our partners at regional Health Units have been in touch with FOCA, to remind all outdoor enthusiasts about the risk of Lyme disease in Ontario. "Mosquitoes and blackflies aren't the only pests," to watch for in cottage country, said Bill Eekhof of the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit. "Lyme disease can be a serious illness spread to humans by the bite of an infected blacklegged (or 'deer') tick."
